My journey into the world of skincare and herbalism began many years ago, after the birth of my daughter Jemima, who suffered very badly with eczema.
I began to get more and more concerned when the prescribed creams resulted in horrible adverse reactions. At this time, there was not nearly as much awareness surrounding the possible long-term effects of petrochemicals, stearoids and parabens so widely used in these products.
I began delving deeply into alternative medicine, natural ingredients and finding my way back to the ancient wisdom of herbalism.
It became my dream to create a natural alternative to soothe the itchiness and discomfort which go hand in hand with eczema, psoriasis and other irritating skin conditions. Magic Balm combines yarrow (Achillea Millefolium), an ancient healing herb, and tea tree oil, nature's powerful antiseptic, along with other organic oils, to help soothe, calm and repair these symptoms and has offered relief to numerous customers over the years.
That being said, eczema is a symptom and I would highly recommend looking into diet and other factors, and really getting to the root cause, as each case is so personal.
My self-care offerings are hand made in my workshop and each product is consciously created with love and intention.
Returning to my childhood roots
Since returning to my childhood roots in Somerset, my intuitive, spiritual connection to plant consciousness and listening to the land has become ever more important to me.
As a child, I loved nothing more than mucking about outside, making dens, magic potions and finding wild creatures to nurture and play with, even in the freezing cold.
Growing up, I remember sitting under a special Weeping Ash tree, which I found solace under when I felt overwhelmed. I was quite a strange little child and Mother Nature was my place to escape, my sanctuary, and still is today. I was obsessed with frogs and slow worms and loved anything to do with the natural world. My father was a keen gardener and propagated hundreds of David Austin old English roses and I loved to help him outside.
Later on, my own love of gardening turned into a fascination into herbalism. I love learning about the folklore surrounding wild flowers and have been drawn to certain plant allies throughout my life. I believe they're here to assist with our healing on this earth, if we are ready to listen.
Growing up I was surrounded by art, both parents being prolific artists. I now get to express my artistic side through the hand drawn illustrations on the MOA packaging inspired by my connections with plant spirit, magical folklore and mythology.
It is my belief that beautiful packaging shouldn’t cost Mother Earth, but also
needs to be as exciting as what’s inside. I take great care to make each potion as unique and radiant as possible and I hope you see the love and creativity that I pour into them!
Love and wild wishes
